Frequently asked questions
Common questions from aged care homes, residents and families.
Who is eligible for an RMMR?
Permanent residents of an eligible aged care home who hold, or are eligible for, a Medicare or DVA card, and whose doctor has identified a clinical need for a review.
How is an RMMR requested?
The resident's GP (or another eligible medical practitioner) issues a written referral. Our GP engagement team works with your GPs and care teams to make referrals straightforward.
Is consent needed?
Yes. The resident, or their authorised representative, gives informed consent before the review. Our engagement team works with your home to have consents in place, and the Consent Form is available above.
Is there a cost to the resident?
No. RMMRs for eligible residents are funded by the Australian Government and provided at no charge to the resident.
How often can a resident have an RMMR?
Generally once every 24 months, or sooner when the resident's doctor considers it clinically necessary. Up to two follow-up reviews may also be provided where clinically indicated.
Is EHS independent of our supply pharmacy?
Yes. Our reviews are delivered independently of the resident's supply pharmacy, so there is no conflict of interest.
What happens after the review?
The Credentialed Pharmacist provides a written report to the resident's GP, who decides on any changes. Your home can see results, trends and benchmarking through our reporting dashboard.
